Interfaith Symposium Held in Uganda

The Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uganda, in cooperation with Al-Mustafa College, organized an Interfaith Symposium on Islam and Christianity at the Kyengera Campus on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

The event brought together the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, faculty members and administrators of Al-Mustafa Islamic College, representatives of the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), Catholic Church leaders, scholars, and religious figures from Iran, Uganda, and several countries in the region. Participants exchanged views on the role of religion in promoting peace, peaceful coexistence, countering extremism, and strengthening interfaith cooperation.

Speakers underscored the importance of sustained dialogue, enhanced cooperation among religious institutions, and the shared values of Islam and Christianity in addressing contemporary social challenges.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran also highlighted the significance of expanding academic and cultural engagement between the religious and educational institutions of the two countries.

On the sidelines of the symposium, the book “The Loving Father: Vignettes from the Life of the Martyred Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei” was officially unveiled.

The symposium received positive attention from religious and academic circles and was covered in several Ugandan media outlets. Participants concluded by reaffirming their commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue, mutual understanding, and cultural cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Uganda.
